Wednesday Link-a-palooza
   June 20, 2012 (9:52 PM) by Matt

A little bit of this and a little bit of that for Wednesday night.

You might have noticed in today’s The OT Report that Steve Clark did not play in Hønefoss’ loss to Mjøndalen in the NM Cupen.  It looks like Clark’s work permit was not updated this past offseason, so he has to sit out until everything gets cleared up, although Hønefoss could be fined or penalized some points since he was playing illegally.

Ljungskile SK’s Steffen Vroom was forced to retire at the age of 25 after picking up the sixth known concussion of his life.  Vroom had played in nine games for Ljungskile SK this season.

Reports out of Houston had scouts from Schalke, Everton and Stoke City checking out Geoff Cameron this past weekend.

Greg Seltzer takes a look at the current economic recession in Europe and its effect on American players playing abroad.

Some sad news within the USMNT family.  Former head coach Alkis Panagoulias and former player Andy Mate have passed away over the last month.  Panagoulias coached the USMNT team from 1983-85 as well as the head coach of the 1984 Olympic team.  And Andy Mate has one cap to his name, a loss to England on May 27, 1964.

You guys know that we enjoy numbers and stats.  Rich over at Craven Cottage Newsround came up with some new numbers and charts on Clint Dempsey.

And finally, some more new kits for next season.  Charlie Davies’ Sochaux have some new away kits.  And Tim Ream and Stuart Holden will be battling for promotion in these new Adidas white home shirts.  So much nicer than the always busy Reebok ones from the past couple seasons.
