There is a joke on one of the college football sites that Howie and I read that when it comes to recruiting (and following the lives of 16-18 year old kids), “caring is creepy”. That said, who doesn’t want to see video highlights of some 11-year-old American scoring a goal for one of Barcelona’s youth teams?!
Thanks to Dave for e-mailing this in, but Ben Lederman scored a goal for Barcelona’s Alevín A team as they participated in some U-12 tournament in Spain recently.
Cap him now!

Let’s say Lederman actually becomes a Barcelona starter in 10 yrs. Will he actually play for us? Would he have citizenship with another country? Wouldnt he get Spanish citizenship if he stays there for that long? All things need to be considered.
LOL @ussoccerdudes Are you seriously discussing this 11 YEAR OLD kids future?? You realize how ridicules that sounds right? 10 years from now the USA would have a wealth of talent (hopefully) that we won’t go threw these kinds of complications that is going on with many dual nationality players.
That’s why I say we cap him now…….
(j/k)
(but not really)
Well, as long as he doesn’t currently have another citizenship, we can cap-tie him by playing him a U-17 qualifier next year.
No we can’t.
It’s a very Barca-esque goal.
Those kids would beat our HS teams here in Texas
Wearing the 10 shirt huh? alrighty then…
If he’s good enough to be playing for Barca’s reserves by the time he’s 17 or so, he’d be good enough to call up for our national team right? Boyd’s only playing for Dortmund’s reserves and we’ve called him up.
cap ‘im
the real question, what does it say about your broadcasting career when you’re providing color commentary for a u-12 tournament?
dynamite drop in cam!!!!
Cam, I think the “and boom goes the dynamite” guy would even turn this down.
