Andrew Wooten, a.k.a. The Wooten Clan, made his first Bundesliga start this weekend and scored the game-winning goal in Kaiserslautern’s 2-1 victory over Hertha Berlin (highlights here).
He wasn’t the only American who found the back of the net this weekend. Jozy Altidore scored his 15th league goal (19th across all competitions) in AZ’s 2-1 victory on Sunday (highlights here). Over in Portugal, Tony Taylor scored a goal for Estoril in a 2-1 loss (highlights here).
Mike Grella scored twice in Bury’s 4-2 victory over Notts County on Saturday. That gives Grella four goals in his last three games. Over in Germany, Preston Zimmerman scored twice (highlights here), while Villyan Bijev scored for Fortuna Düsseldorf’s reserve team down in the Regionalliga.
As for some non-goal scoring news, Oguchi Onyewu returned to the field this weekend, starting for Sporting CP in their win over Nacional. And Brad Friedel continued his EPL record ironman streak, suiting up for his 300th consecutive Premier League game, although it came in a 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.

I’ve always thought that Gaven is very skilled, but I’ve also always believed that he is extremely lackadaisical. This last game just reminded me of what he’s capable of.
