The U-23s will face Canada on Saturday. The Canadians drew El Salvador, 0-0, in their opening match (highlights of that match here if you don’t like goals).
Adu looked great tonight–his passes were right on the money. Mix has pillows for feet–his touch is perfect every single time. Corona’s first finish was top class, as was Adu’s scorcher.
+1 Trent Hill. The only visible weakness of this team is their distribution out of the back. Did Opara or Kitchen complete a 10 yard forward pass at all??? Jared Jeffrey had to keep checking back to create the game.
Everything else looked good to me. Mix has great vision an touch. Corona is a great finisher and easily one of the best players on the team. Shea’s pace is a handful for any team to deal with. Adu’s passing is exemplary. Jared Jeffrey is a force in the middle — dude was everywhere on defense and in the attack.
Trent I agree with you 100% Mix has the softest touch I ever seen for a US player. I thought they played well but I would have like to see Gyau and Shea on the field at same time and I am dying to see Boyd Play, I hear he has a great touch also.
I wouldn’t say the defense was lost, but they had a few shaky moments. Clearly the defense will be the area that will be upgraded for the Olympics.
I would say that all three Over-age players should be slected for the defense.
Corona, Adu, Shea, and Diskerud were then men of the match. Corona gets the plaudits, but diskerud set up two of his goals with Adu being instrumental in Corona’s frist goal, and Shea assisting on Agudelo’s goal as well as the own goal. Very exciting players and it’s amazing to see playmakers all over this squad
by the way, Fred Adu is still comically short.

Defense still looks lost though :\

Juan and Brek need to work on their celebrations. Besides that, this team looks promising. Love the vision and creativity.

Award–I think so too. Two Central Defenders and a left back.
I forgot to mention Shea–who had a great game, Agudelo played pretty well too and you can tell those two like to hook up in-game.
