A whole bunch of links for Tuesday

Most of these are USMNT related, but before we dive in, a reminder to sign up for our Guess The Score contest for tomorrow’s friendly.  Three OT shirts will be up for grabs and we already have about 50 people signed up.

US Soccer has their official preview up on their site with all the random stats and factoids.  The MNT blog also has a few photos of the team taking a stroll around Genoa.

MLSsoccer.com has a preview on the friendly as well as our friends over at The Shin Guardian.  ESPN also has a statistical preview up.

According to Brian Sciaretta, only about 10,000 tickets have been sold for the friendly so far.

Sciaretta has been a busy man this week as he has an interview up over at Yanks Abroad with Danny Williams.  He also has a story on Fabian Johnson and a story on the lack of Dempsey/Donovan together over at the NY Times.

Grant Wahl did a Q&A with Clint Dempsey.  Wahl also has his own little preview up on the friendly.

As for some non-USMNT links.

Over at Top Drawer Soccer, Travis Clark takes a look at the U-20 camp, while J.R. Eskilson talks to Ike Opara at the U-23 camp.

Leander Schaerlaeckens spent the day with Stuart Holden as he continues his rehab.  Holden just seems like a good dude.  And yes, I said dude.

And who doesn’t like some Brad Friedel photoshops?

Only 10,000 tickets have been sold. Wow thats a horrible showing of fans in Italy for their National team.

I was actually just thinking the other day about the Genoa stadium. I didn’t realize that’s where the game was going to be. I really like the brick towers in each corner of the field.

  3. Ian says:

The stadium seats about 35,000 and looks fairly confined. Even 20,000 might give it a good atmosphere. Personally, I was pretty underwhelmed with the Italian line-up, especially the forwards, so I don’t blame the Italian fans if it’s not a sellout.

  4. Howie says:

It’s supposed to be a fundraising match for victims of flooding last fall, too.

this is the stadium where Serbian fans’ violence led to a Euro 2012 qualifier being abandoned in October 2010.
