Monday late night links

A few links from the last few days, starting with the USMNT.

US Soccer MNT’s blog has had some goodies over the last couple days including a look at the US-Italy all-time series.  Plus they did some Q&A with Brad Guzan.  And they snapped a couple photos from Monday’s training session.  It looks like they are wearing new Nike training gear, which makes me wonder if they will be wearing the new rumored away shirt.

Both Grant Wahl and Brian Sciaretta are live in Italy to give us some Klinsmann quotes on whether the coaching staff are watching Sacha Kljestan and why Terrence Boyd got the call up among other things.  Sciaretta also has a story up on Boyd over at the NY Times soccer blog.

Jozy Altidore recently did some Q&A action with Goal.com.  And Daniella Matar of the AP has a story on Michael Bradley.

Shifting to the youth teams.  The US Soccer Youth blog has a Q&A up with Joe Corona.  And Studio 90 has a video about the start of the second week of the U-23 camp.  And finally, the U-20s played FC Dallas reserves the other day, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw.  The U-20 goal scorers were Daniel Cuevas and Villyan Bijev.

As for two things non national team related, Michael Adubato recently caught up with Devann Yao to talk about his season in the Belgian Second Division.  And Steven Goff talked to Samir Badr about the craziness going on Egypt.

Hate to get ahead of things, but Bijev is a beast

After noticing that the team is wearing the new training kits; I would have to say that we may see the new away jersey’s. Why on earth would Klinsmann pull Boyd from the U-23’s if he wasn’t going to be played. Might as well have just called in Gomez or Kenny Cooper to just sit on the bench.

  3. Award says:

@ Kyle- Yeah Bijev is a beast. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the FWD mix for the USMNT going towards WC 2014.

  4. Trent Hill says:

I reaaaally don’t see why he didn’t call in Herc Gomez. To me it was as big an oversight as Sacha.
