Michael Thomas appears set to depart Sweden
January 17, 2012 (9:26 PM) by Howie Michaels     Email This Post Email This Post

Our series on exciting US-Sweden relations continues in the Superettan with Ljungskile midfielder Michael Thomas. Thomas, who also played for Halmstads while they were still in the Allsvenskan, had his rights traded from San Jose, who had drafted him out of Notre Dame in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft, to Sporting Kansas City, his hometown club.

Thomas, who played in Sporting’s last reserve match of the season after Ljungskile’s season ended, would join his former college roommate, Matt Besler, at Livestrong Sporting Park.

Howie once received a death threat at a USA-Brazil friendly. He still believes in Fred Adu. He plays forward in coed rec, although not well.
