All sorts of exciting news regarding Oxford United
July 14, 2011 (8:28 PM) by Howie Michaels     Email This Post Email This Post

Oklahoman Jon-Paul Pittman joined Oxford United of League Two, having not been retained by Wycombe Wanderers following their promotion to League One. Oxford United is actually “touring” the United States for their preseason, which means that they’re playing some National Premier Soccer League (somewhere between the 4th and 5th division of the American system) in the Boston area.

The Us played the Seacoast United to a 1-1 draw tonight. They’ll face Mass United on Saturday and then Seacoast United again on Monday before coming back to finish off preseason training in England ahead of an August 6 opener. They seem excited by Pittman’s signing and have actually been featuring him in video diaries for their site subscribers.

Meanwhile, Chris Konopka, who was formerly with Waterford United of the League of Ireland’s second level, is on trial with the Us and started in the net tonight.

Howie once received a death threat at a USA-Brazil friendly. He still believes in Fred Adu. He plays forward in coed rec, although not well.
