Ryan Guy signs with the New England Revolution
June 9, 2011 (3:19 PM) by Howie Michaels     Email This Post Email This Post

We haven’t had any concrete Ryan Guy news for a while. The San Diegan was a 2009-10 OT XI honoree for his efforts at St. Patrick’s Athletic in the FAI League of Ireland, but he left the club this off-season for what was described as “personal reasons” (although it sounds like SPA was moving to part-time wages and Guy had a son to worry about).

Since then, he’s spent time on trial with the Portland Timbers, Chivas USA, and FC Dallas without any efforts. Now the wide midfielder, who scored 25 league goals with 139 matches in four seasons in Ireland as well as some in European competition, has found a club, signing with the New England Revolution of MLS.

He’ll add some needed width to an attack that has scored a league-worst ten goals in thirteen matches this year and continues to struggle even after adding US World Cup veteran Benny Feilhaber.

Howie once received a death threat at a USA-Brazil friendly. He still believes in Fred Adu. He plays forward in coed rec, although not well.

  1. Steve Trittschuh says:

Seems like a good move for him. The Revs need all the help they can get.

  2. Howie says:

And if you listen to their fans, service from wide midfield has been particularly lacking.
