Memorial Day links
May 30, 2011 (5:48 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

US Soccer confirmed today that Alejandro Bedoya has been called into camp, but he is not officially on the roster yet.  They are going to continue to evaluate Benny Feilhaber’s injury before making a final decision.  Bob Bradley and Co have until 24 hours before their first game (June 7) to replace an injured player on the roster.

Also, with this weekend being an international break, Bedoya will not miss any games for Örebro SK (their next game is not until June 13), so no harm in bringing him in for the week even if they decide to stay with Feilhaber.

With the USMNT camp slowly beginning (I think everyone except for Clarence Goodson has arrived to Cary so far according to US Soccer’s twitter account), the USMNT blog on US Soccer’s website is starting to become more active.

Steven Goff is reporting that 57,000 tickets have been sold so far for the US/Spain friendly on June 4 (only about 10,000 remain).  I read somewhere (if I could find the link/story/tweet again, I would credit it) that this will be a USMNT attendance record for games at Foxborough.

You can throw Jermaine Jones name into the AS Roma rumor hat according to Greg Seltzer.  I was also going to do a post tomorrow about what Yanks will be on teams in Champions/Europa League for next season, but Mr. Seltzer beat me to it.

And here are some highlights of Jemal Johnson’s goal from Saturday (I dig the music).

Finally, a shameless plug to enter our Gold Cup Bracket Contest.  Have about  20+ entries already and the top five scores will win free OT shirts.

  1. Howie says:

I can’t imagine OSK would be cool with Bedoya flying to the US during the season just to train. I’d have to guess it’s very likely he makes the roster.

  2. Matt says:

Oh I agree, but in the event Feilhaber gets some kind of Robin van Persie placenta treatment that magically gets him healthy and Bedoya does return to Sweden, I am guessing they would be happy with him not missing five games.
