Benny Feilhaber has been claimed by New England
April 19, 2011 (7:54 PM) by Howie Michaels     Email This Post Email This Post

Ex-AGF midfielder Benny Feilhaber signed with MLS last week, but he had yet to actually discover his club thanks to the complex MLS roster rules. Chivas USA had the first opportunity to claim him; they passed, citing a desire to preserve salary cap space. Philadelphia Union then passed as well. This meant that Feilhaber was available for the New England Revolution, who chose to claim him.

The Revs, however, are still weighing trade offers for Feilhaber.

If Feilhaber does wind up with New England, he would become the second US international on the current Revs roster, joining Matt Reis (two caps during the January camps of 2006 and 2007).

Howie once received a death threat at a USA-Brazil friendly. He still believes in Fred Adu. He plays forward in coed rec, although not well.

  1. Steve Trittschuh says:

I feel bad for him. The Revs are not a good team and I don’t think he’s good enough to turn them around by himself.

  2. Kyle says:

IDK, he might partner well in the attack with this Danish striker the Revs just brought in.
