Here is the usual link roundup after yesterday’s 1-0 loss, including a bunch of post-game thoughts and player ratings.  Also, you can check out highlights right here.

The USMNT is now winless its last 12 games (0-8-4) against teams from South America.  Its last win against a team from South America was a 3-1 victory over Ecuador on March 25, 2007.

I don’t have much to add to the stuff above since I had to work while trying to watch the game on the side, so I caught bits and pieces.  It seemed like the US did a nice job of possessing, but they were missing that final pass into the final third which would lead to a good/dangerous shot attempt.

It didn’t seem like Maurice Edu, Jozy Altidore or Landon Donovan had good games, while some young players like Tim Ream (although he got bullied in the box on Paraguay’s goal), Timothy Chandler and Juan Agudelo played well.  Clint Dempsey did alright, although started to look very tired by the end.

Thoughts on the game?

One Response to “US-Paraguay Aftermath Links”

  1. Steve Trittschuh says:

Thought overall that everyone played well, and that we dominated most of the game in terms of possession and creating chances. We had numerous direct kicks on Paraguay’s side, but Donovan was often unable to play a very good ball. I think that either he needs to improve or someone else need to take direct kicks.

MB90 finally showed up. Unclear why Demerit and Ream fell down on the goal. Altidore unable to get a shot on goal even though we had tons of possession. Also thought Chandler and Lichaj were excellent in attacking from the back.
