Here are some links worth checking out for Monday.
Brad Guzan returned to Aston Villa last week after completing another month loan with Hull City, but it looks like he is headed back to Hull City for a third month on another loan. Goalkeeper Vito Mannone, on loan from Arsenal, picked up another injury in Hull City’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest this past weekend, so Guzan should be the starter tomorrow against Burnley.
From one Villa player to another, The Shin Guardian does a good job breaking down Michael Bradley’s competition for playing time in the central midfield. Matthew posted that last night and Barry Bannan has already been sent out on loan to Leeds United. So there is one fewer player to worry about.
So I start to get vocal with my Zak Whitbread fan club last week, and right on cue, he picks up an injury after taking a hard fall on his back in Norwich City’s 1-1 draw to Preston North End on Saturday. His manager is calling him “touch and go” for this week, so hopefully it is not anything serious that sidelines him for long.
US Soccer has a Q & A with Rangers’ Maurice Edu. That is one way for him to talk to his fans since Rangers manager Walter Smith banned his players from twitter recently.
Brian Sciaretta breaks down some possible new names for the USMNT for 2011.
And finally, Chuck Blazer is not happy that CONCACAF did not receive a full fourth spot in the 2014 World Cup.
