    Did anybody watch the game?

Sounds like they controlled the game first half and not so much the second half.

It was noted that Brooks was moved moved from LCB to RCB and played noticeably worse.

  2. Dirk says:

It was okay. First half we created chances but no strong finishing in the area. Jozy rarely got the ball in space where he could do something with it (sounds familiar).

2nd half was disjointed offensively. Rarely got anything going. Shea would make a good run then had zero ability to make a good pass or cross.

Czechs were bad offensively. Worse finishers than we had although Rimando deserves credit for some good saves. Personally lost interest in the 2nd half as it seemed the U.S was satisfied with the one goal.

  3. Matt Benson says:

Rambling thoughts after finally sitting down to watch the whole game.

    * Rimando is pretty damn good for a #3 goalkeeper.

    * Brek Shea…..oof.

    * We missed Jozy’s hold up play in the World Cup.

    * We are set at fullback for a few more years with Fabian Johnson.

    * I know people want to get excited over Hyndman, who did well for someone who is 18 and making his debut, but the thing that impressed me the most was his tackling a couple times in big spots.

    * Julian Green’s free kicks/corners were bad.

    * John Brooks played well for the most part but he has these random mis-hits on clearances…..I don’t know if it the yips, but he needs to cut down on them.

    * Mix’s hair……*swoon*. He also did a great job of anticipating Cech’s throw on Bedoya’s goal.

    * Bedoya might not be the most skilled guy on the field but not many people will out-hustle him.

    * Gyau needs to work on his actions in the final third of the field, but he might be the fastest player in the pool.

that was a really really bad throw by cech… glad to see us capitalize though. diskerud could be huge in 2018.

  5. William says:

Guzan/Rimando – they are both pretty damn good

Johnson – as said above, we are set at RB for a while
Chandler – still not a fan but better than some LB’s we have had…hope someone steps up
Brooks – as said above, was very good at LCB, not so much when moved over
Orozco – just don’t understand the love affair with him. He adds depth but that’s it for me
Ream – same as Orozco above…may be a better LB
    Garza – not ready
Mix – agree with above…he could be huge the next four years. His tackling/physicality showed great improvement
Corona – not ready…not even close
Green – agreed with above…crosses/corners were terrible. He and Chandler just didn’t work consistently enough
Bedoya – the quintessential hustler…distribution will never be good enough to start for a team that has aspirations of a semi-final
Hyndman – the new Stu Holden???? It will be interesting to see his development
Morales – I honestly don’t remember much from him
Gyau – not bad for a debut…the new Charlie Davies, but better technical skill??? Very strong on the ball…defense will come with experience
Altidore – did what he always does…held up the ball extremely well and helped maintain possession
Shea – looked like a guy that hasn’t played in a year

All in all we won on European soil against a very good European side with a group of youngsters. I find it absolutely comical that there are still people asking for Klinsmann to be fired. If it isn’t obvious to you the growth of this program and the high ceiling with him as coach then I don’t know what to say.

  6. Gregory says:

How did Mix look overall? Hope he in the future he can play the central attacking mid position and move Bradley to more of a holding support role.

Corona? I heard mix things about his performance. Some said he did a great job playing dirty D in the midfield.

Chandler had to have played well, The MLS gave him an average rating.

  7. Jaime says:

Corona did not played well but he also didnt play bad.. He was average.

Chandler is the best LB we have in our pool, unless you move FB there and play Deandre at RB.

Garza is not ready for this level, he looked completely lost.

Green is someone who I think with time may develop but I am not sold on him yet, he makes huge mistakes, I am talking Ricardo Clark type.. Time will tell.

    Gyau was great to watch…

Hyndman Look really good technically and a pairing of him Mix and Bradley in the future will be fun to see.

Brooks- Played very well, he tackle and pass like no other CB I have seen in the last 8 years.

Shea- He looked completely lost, honestly between him Ream the worst performance of the day…

  8. daniil says:

corona has been fighting for minutes at tijuana. garza is a regular professional starter for the first time ever this year. he’s a project, there is a lot of potential there but obviously a long way to go.

  9. doctor phil says:

I know I’m gonna sound like Alexi Lalas here, but did anyone see how the US was setting up on in swinging right footed corners? They had four guys between the near post and the keeper. It may seem dumb but I think it could work. If the delivery can get right into that area it will cause havoc. I remember it almost led to a goal versus Turkey before a phantom foul was called.

  10. Gregory says:

Keep in mind that Czech team wasn’t full of Top class league clubs.

I can excuse Green for being 19, but Gyua is about to turn 22 and needs to step his game up quick on D to play with the A squad.

Shea is an marketing factor. For real any time he plays well the news story is bigger the next day. Jurgen gets Jurgen off that.

We need the Parker Bros added to that young Euro-based roster.

  11. daniil says:

czech’s are pretty good though. Viktoria Plzen is about the quality of a high-end MLS team.
i’m sure if klinsmann could have had swan parker in this team he would have had him. heck, he may have already committed to us but he will have to file his switch will take time to process

  12. Gregory says:

    @William

Jurgen could be fired for that performance he went 1-2-1. Tim Howard saved us from complete embarrassment. We got historically shelled, and got some points because a few amazing performances.

Landon Donovan should have been on the squad. Altidore went down and Jurgen should have had Lando on the bench. He’s a solid winger that can pass and move the ball.

Jurgen hates Lando’s guts. Remember back around 2008 when Jurgen offered Lando a loan to Bayern Munich. Jurgen single handlely upped Lando value and leading to Lando earning a starting spot for Everton. I think Jurgen sees Lando as ungrateful.

Bob Bradley coached about the same with less talent. Bob Bradley signed Jermaine Jones but he broke his leg right before the World Cup.

    Bradley had a healthy Altidore.

I give Jurgen credit for Yeldin.

I love Jurgen is Jurgen enough to play 50% of the line-up out of position. One time let Chandler and Fabian line up on the same wing.

  13. daniil says:

1-2-1 in the european arrangement right ;) cuz our game against belgium was a draw

  14. Gregory says:

    Daniil

Can we agree setting the save record is a negative thing for everyone not Tim Howard. I don’t know much about attics but I doubt your keeping having the chances to make that many saves is not a good strategy. Also did Beckermen really get that much better from 2010 to 2014? Did Bob Bradley snubb Beckermen?
