Omar Gonzalez expected to miss up to two weeks with knee injury
May 8, 2014 (4:59 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

Omar Gonzalez had to be subbed out of the LA Galaxy’s game this past weekend with a knee injury.  Galaxy manager Bruce Arena spoke to the press today and let us know that Gonzalez should miss a week or two with the injury.

Despite the injury, Arena still expects Gonzalez to be among the 30 called into the training camp.

“Omar is making progress. [He has] just a little tweak on his [left] knee,” said Arena. “[He’ll miss] anywhere from a week or two weeks, but I do expect him to go off next week.”

Not as serious as Gonzalez’s injury, but fellow USMNT centerback hopeful Clarence Goodson picked up a shin contusion on Tuesday and is questionable for San Jose’s game this upcoming weekend.

  1. CP says:

Well, in case there was any doubt before, I’d like to officially welcome John Anthony Brooks to the 30-man camp…

  2. CP says:

I don’t like when people get injured, but if there is any silver lining to this, I don’t think people will now be as upset when Chandler starts at RB and Cameron is moved over to CB :-). Bring it Daniil! 🙂

  3. Matt says:

You guys will soon find out our (mine, Will, Jon….still waiting for Howie) predictions at the roster tomorrow.

  4. Soemthin, something, something Darkside says:

I could see this potentially knocking him out of the WC. Two weeks in Camp trying to get over a knee injury while other CB’s are healthy and ready to compete.

  5. Chris says:

This sounds terrible, but I hope he misses the WC. We are better without him IMO.

  6. LSUChris says:

I hate to say it but I agree with Chris. Omar has become a liability. Maybe in the future when he has better awareness I’ll feel ok with him being one of the CBs. Cameron himself has said that he thinks his best position is either CB or DM, and I’d love to see him line up there and let Chandler take RB.
