The long rumored Copa America Centenario appears to be coming to the US in 2016. The 16-team tournament will feature 10 CONMEBOL teams and six CONCACAF squads, including the US and Mexico.
The US has moved up one spot to #13 in the latest FIFA world rankings. As for the rest of the US’s group of fun, Germany is #2, Portugal is #3 and Ghana is #38.
Tab Ramos has named his 21-man roster for the Dallas Cup. The US will face River Plate, Eintracht Frankfurt and UANL Tigres in Group C of the Gordon Jago Super Group. Emerson Hyndman will also be in attendance at the tournament, but he will be playing with Fulham.
Jose Torres became the first American to win Mexico’s Copa MX earlier this week. Torres has now won trophies in Copa MX, Copa Sudamericana, Liga MX Clausura, Super Liga and CONCACAF Champions League (three times). Not too shabby.
