We had a couple goals in Germany this weekend.  Marc Heider scored two goals, giving him a team-leading eight goals on the season, in Holstein Kiel’s 3-0 win over Matt Taylor and Preußen Münster (highlights).

In the 2. Bundesliga, Andrew Wooten carried over his goal-scoring tear from the winter camp friendlies into league play and scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in FSV Frankfurt’s 2-1 victory over Bochum (highlights).

This weekend also saw a lot of Yanks getting hurt or sitting out due to injuries.  Here is a quick recap of a couple guys.  Then you had someone like Clint Dempsey who just didn’t even make Fulham’s gameday roster on Sunday.

Will Packwood (Birmingham City – English League Championship) – Will got the start and went the full 90 minutes in Birmingham City’s 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Shawn Parker (Mainz – German Bundesliga) – Shawn came off the bench and played 19 minutes in Mainz’s 3-0 loss to Wolfsburg.

Tim Ream (Bolton Wanderers – English League Championship) – Tim got the start, went the full 90 minutes and received a yellow card in Bolton Wanderers’ 2-2 draw to AFC Bournemouth.

  1. Dirk says:

Dempsey was left out of the 18 for Fulham. What has happened to Alex Bedoya with Nantes? Not in the 18 either.

  2. Matt says:

Bedoya sat due to a thigh injury.

  3. CP says:

Pretty poor week for us Americans…

We have to stop with the injury bug and get our best players back into form!

  4. Gregory says:

Is there any word on Adam Henley? He’s 19 and seems to becoming a solid starter for Blackburn. He was born in the USA.

  5. dan says:

Ryan Tunnicliffe made the Fulham bench ahead of Clint. RYAN TUNNICLIFFE!

  6. Todd T says:

Thinking Clint should have taken time off…he looks flat. Hopefully he is still trying to get into shape again and not that he needs some time in Cambodia.

  7. Bird says:

Boyd was not in the 18 for Rapid Sunday. Any word on his situation?

  8. Trevor says:

Bird, Boyd was out due to serving a red card suspension from before the winter break.

  9. Cam says:

Dempsey is not playing well..but he played 120 minutes wednesday so that probably had something to do with him being left out

  10. Matt says:

That is very plausible Cam as I read a quote from their manager today where he said this very exact thing for why Brede Hangeland didn’t play on Sunday.
