Clint Dempsey went the full 120 minutes as Fulham might have hit rock bottom this season, giving up the game-winning goal to Sheffield United in the 120th minute in the FA Cup.  Here is the goal.

  1. Ian says:

    Man, did they look bad.

  2. Dirk says:

Fulham look like relegation fodder. Dempsey looks past it, but the team is bad, so there’s that.

  3. Slinker says:

Dempsey’s play has fallen off a cliff since last Summer.

  4. Joe says:

Not to mention Clint ball-watching and losing his man who scores the goal. Dire, dire game and Dempsey was terrible.

  5. CC says:

that was Clint’s man that he stopped marking who scored…

Maybe that’s what $4.5m a year does to your brain. The ‘Eddie Johnson’ syndrome on a higher level. He needs a good few months in Seattle or he can’t be expected to have a good World Cup. And that would be a problem…

  6. Jerry says:

Glad I wasn’t able to actually watch the game, Fulham fans were going to town on Dempsey on twitter yesterday while I was trying to get updates on the game.

I still think he’ll be fine if he keeps logging games and stays healthy. However, our “captain” is hardly a lock in the starting XI, and I replaced him with Iceman as the SS/CAM ages ago.

  7. CP says:

Klinsmann is not replacing Dempsey unless he gets injured….too much already invested in him

  8. Dirk says:

Obviously he still has a role to play in Brazil, but I hope Klinsman considers form. I don’t want Deuce as an automatic starter if his play doesn’t merit it. We have so many more options now out wide, guys who are capable of providing service from LM or RM that Dempsey never excelled at anyway. If it came down to choosing Demps or Lando to play behind Jozy, I go with Donovan all the way right now.

  9. Trent Hill says:

    Dirk–I agree wholeheartedly.
