January 31, 2014 (3:36 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

After spurning MLS and deciding to trial around Denmark, Sebastien Ibeagha has signed with AC Horsens of the Danish 1st Division (second tier).  His contract will run until the summer of 2015.

Ibeagha was born in Nigeria, but he played with the US U-20 team during the 2011 cycle.

The Duke product joins a AC Horsens squad that is looking for promotion as they currently sit in second place of the 12-team 1st Division (top two teams are promoted).  AC Horsens are currently in their winter break camp as the season doesn’t resume until March, but Ibeagha has already scored a goal for the team in a friendly against Sonderjyske on Friday.

AC Horsens wikipedia fun fact:  The Rolling Stones were the first band to play a concert at their stadium, CASA Arena Horsens, while Madonna’s 2006 concert had 85,232 fans in attendance.

So here’s something I had never thought of before; Does a player for one of the youth teams (i.e. US U-20’s) have to be naturalized like the senior team? Or, can they be in the process and still be apart of the youth teams?
