Sunderland vs. Stoke City Highlights
January 29, 2014 (5:06 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

Jozy Altidore got the start and played 67 minutes in Sunderland’s 1-0 win over Geoff Cameron (90 minutes) and Stoke City.  Jozy also drew Steven N’Zonzi’s second yellow card in the match.  Here is the lone goal of the game (and a GIF of Jozy drawing the foul).

Maybe the gif doesn’t do the foul justice but I would really like to see Jozy run through that clumsy challenge and shot on goal.

  2. Curtis says:

Agreed. It was a particularly soft foul to draw, and looked to me like he could have battled through it.

On the positive side, obviously, he drew the red card on Nzonzi and changed the match in this way — but still, he was in and should have powered through on the keeper. His confidence is really low, but at least looks like he got a couple sniffs at goal in this one. The goals will come eventually!

  3. Dirk says:

It’s not the first time he’s taken a tumble. Jozy is like one of those gym rats you see, all upper body strength, weak legs. To eager to go to ground.
