Ending the week with some links
January 10, 2014 (12:41 AM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

For the four people who don’t know, Roma officially announced the sale of Michael Bradley to MLS on their website yesterday.  The $10 million transfer fee is tied for the second largest ever paid for an American.  And Roma made out with a nice little profit on Bradley.

There has already been about eleventy billion words written about Bradley and his move to MLS so I will spare you with my thoughts nor will I link every little rant/story out there.  That said, here are some quotes from Landon Donovan on the move.

Also from yesterday, Julian Green scored a goal with Bayern Munich’s first team in a friendly against the Sudanese club Al-Merrikh (highlights).  And Matt Taylor scored two goals in a friendly against Heracles (photo).

As expected after his contract was terminated by Randers last week, Charlie Davies signed a permanent contract with the New England Revolution.

Brian Span is returning to the US/MLS after two seasons in Sweden.

I posted last month that I got word from an OT reader about the USMNT’s World Cup kits and some more information has been leaked which seems to match up with it.  The change in crest (RIP centennial crest) matches all the new branding done by US Soccer’s website and Twitter account.  There was also a “leaked shirt” photo circulating around yesterday, but it looked pretty photoshop to me (it looked like someone just tried to create what it should look like based on the description from the new leaked information).

Speaking of new shirts, Tijuana revealed their new red shirt for this season at some party/presentation.  Kim Tate was also down there for the presentation and snagged a couple photos.

Sticking with Tijuana, Mexican international Fernando Arce has a son, Fernando Arce Jr., who is also on Tijuana (playing for their U-20 team) and he was born in the US.

Eric Lichaj picked up a “lower body” injury this past weekend, but it doesn’t appear to be anything serious.

With the US U-20 team currently camping down in Florida, Brian Sciaretta talked to Tab Ramos about how things are going.

Brooks Lennon scored a brace for Liverpool’s U-17 team this week (highlights).  He is #7.

And finally, I really can’t wait for this full video.  Klinsi being Klinsi.  Like a boss.

  1. Nicholask says:

Crest change is a nothing in my book and soooooo disappointing.

  2. Tim H. says:

The crest is so disappointing and looks like something puked up by a 90’s advertising department. People widely-praised the centennial crest, with there even being petitions circulated in order to keep it. Instead of listening to fan support, Nike goes the opposite direction.
