A few links for Friday

A few links before the weekend.

More and more signs that Clint Dempsey is headed to Fulham on a loan, although nothing official.  Fulham defender Sascha Riether posted a photo of him and Dempsey on instagram with the caption “Welcome back Clint Dempsey” which was deleted shortly after being posted.

Zarek Valentin has signed to Bodø/Glimt on permanent basis until 2015.  Valentin played in 27 games last season for Bodø/Glimt, helping them to promotion into Norway’s first division.

Kaiserslautern are bringing in some new players this winter break and Andrew Wooten appears to be one of four players leaving the club.

I missed this a couple weeks ago but Daniel Cuevas has left Santos Laguna (mainly their U-20 team) for Lobos Buap in the Ascenso MX (Mexico’s second division).

Jonathan Bornstein is headed to Club Atlante on loan.

Brian Sciaretta caught up with Josh Gatt to talk about his recovery from his ACL tear.  I know he had a knee injury, but I think this is the first time that it has been mentioned it was an ACL tear.  That said, sounds like he is close to returning to the field.

Here an ESPN FC story with some more quotes about Bob Bradley and his interest from Stabaek.

It looks like Celtic manager Neil Lennon was recently in Holland to watch Aron Johannsson.

ESPN FC’s Alex Labidou did a scouting breakdown on Mix Diskerud.

Leeds United has signed Gboly Ariyibi to a short-term deal.  Ariyibi is eligible to play for the US and was brought up through the Southampton youth acaedmy before being released this summer.

The USMNT have ended 2013 ranked No. 14 in the FIFA world rankings, up 14 spots from this time last year.  And for comparison sake, the US is also rated No. 13 in the Elo ratings (they were No. 25 after their last friendly in 2012).

  1. Trent Hill says:

Cuevas is too good to be playing in Mexico’s second division. Could be starting somewhere in MLS, I’d think.

Valentin is one to watch for the USMNT in the future.

Neil Lennon of Celtic was there to watch Fingbossan, not Johannson–but he might have come away impressed with AJ, who would come with a lower pricetag.
