Thursday linkage

The USMNT are kicking it in Scotland in preparation for Friday’s game.  One of the storylines this week has been DaMarcus Beasley’s and Alejandro Bedoya’s return to their old Rangers stomping grounds.  US Soccer has one video about it as well as something on the website.

The other big story of yesterday was that Clint Dempsey (calf strain) and Fabian Johnson (ankle) were dropped from the roster due to their injuries.  No replacements have been added.

Speaking of Dempsey, Grant Wahl thinks he is the likeliest to go on loan to Europe this winter, while it sounds like Landon Donovan and Graham Zusi might not.  But that could always change.

Here is the latest Q&A from Jurgen Klinsmann.

Tab Ramos has been named as US Soccer’s second youth technical director (on top of his U-20 duties).

Sticking with Ramos, he and the US U-20 team lost their first friendly in Italy yesterday, 4-1, to the Hellas Verona academy.

One player not with the US team in Scotland is Tim Ream.  Ream talked to Mr. Interview Brian Sciaretta recently.

And finally, Will Packwood’s loan with Bristol Rovers has been extended until January.  Packwood has played in four league games with the League Two side, including a couple man of the match performances.

  1. Trent Hill says:

Tim Ream’s exclusion was curious, although not as glaring as Timmy Chandler’s. Or Agudelo’s.

    ” most likeliest to go”

Most likeliest? Someone must be tiiiiired :P
