The two Americans playing UEFA Champions League ball this year have learned their groups.
Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht are in Group C with Paris Saint-German (France), Benfica (Portugal), and Olympiacos (Greece).
Jermaine Jones and Schalke 04 will attempt to navigate Group E against Chelsea (England), Basel (Switzerland), and Steaua București (Romania).
It’s a better draw for Anderlecht, who finished 4th in Group C behind Málaga, Milan, and Zenit St. Petersburg (and were just three points behind 2nd-place Milan). They should be competitive again, although PSG and Benfica will be favored to advance.
Jones and Benfica might have a tough time winning their group over Chelsea (although they did the same thing last year over Arsenal), but they should be favored to advance over Basel and Steaua București and get a shot to improve on their disappointing second-round exit last year.
Here is the full draw.
