Here is your US-Bosnia pre-game primer

Here is a quick rundown of things you might want to look at before today’s game.

» The game is at 2:30 PM Eastern on ESPN2, WatchESPN, UniMas.

» Bosnia is ranked #13 by FIFA and #22 by Elo, while the US is #19 by FIFA and #11 by Elo.  The highest the US has ever been ranked by Elo is #9, the last time in 2009 after beating Honduras in the 2009 Gold Cup semifinals.  And Bosnia’s #13 ranking by FIFA is its highest ranking ever.

» Here are the official game notes by US Soccer.  This will be the first ever meeting between the US and Bosnia.  As for some other random stats/facts:

The US is currently on an 11-game winning streak, its longest winning streak ever, the longest active streak in the world and tied for the longest streak in CONCACAF history.  Mexico won 11 in a row between 1935 and 1938, while Costa Rica won 11 in a row between 1960 and 1961.

Bosnia enters Wednesday’s game on a five-game winning streak and is unbeaten in its last nine games (8-0-1).  They have also scored three or more goals in six of those nine games.

Jozy Altidore has scored a goal in each of his last four USMNT games, tied for the longest streak in USMNT history.  He has a chance to set a new record on Wednesday if he can find the back of the net.

The US is 4-3-1 against European (UEFA) teams under Jurgen Klinsmann, including a 2-2-1 mark on European soil.

Aron Johannsson, Bobby Wood and John Anthony Brooks (and Cody Cropper) all have a chance to play in their first game for the USMNT on Wednesday.  In the event they play AND score, they would be the first player under Klinsmann to score in their first career cap and the first since Juan Agudelo scored in his first cap against South Africa on November 17, 2010.

» As I mentioned above, Johannsson has a chance to play since his FIFA one-time switch was approved on Tuesday.  Here is a photo of Johannsson holding a US jersey.  US Soccer’s website also did a Q&A with him.  I see the Kevin Bacon thing.

» As usual, the guys over at The Shin Guardian and The Yanks Are Coming have you covered for game previews.

» Luke O’Brien wrote a lengthy and good piece on Michael Bradley for Howler Magazine, which is being shown on Deadspin for the moment.  I also love the photo that they used for the piece.

» Don’t forget to enter our guess the score contest for a chance to win one of our Sacha Kljestan mustache shirts.

» Want a pre-game jam?  The melodic and heavy rock band O’Brother has a new album coming out next week so they did a live session thing for Audiotree last week and here is one of their new songs.  Just a random plug for a band that I saw recently.
