Conor O’Brien came off the bench and played 19 minutes in Nordsjælland’s 5-0 loss (6-0 on aggregate) to Zenit St. Petersburg in Champions League action on Wednesday. Here are some highlights, including O’Brien hitting the crossbar at the 7:49 mark.
Zenit are a good team with a much larger payroll, no surprise here.
The whole tie, home and away, was characterized by Zenit passing the ball at will and playing forwards in behind with ease.
Obrien inserted some life into the dane’s ball movement when he entered, but the tie was far lost by then. The last ten minutes both teams lacksadasically bypassed the midfield and obrien didn’t really get on the ball at all.
Given he played 16 meaningless minutes of this tie, it seems Conner is still on the outside looking in at Farum. I was dissappointed not to see more of him but he is still young and played well in a hostile environment today.
