Rapid Vienna vs. Wiener Neustadt Highlights
July 27, 2013 (9:38 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

Terrence Boyd scored his first two games of the 2013-14 season in Rapid Vienna’s 4-0 win over Wiener Neustadt on Saturday.  Here are some highlights with Boyd’s goals coming at the 3:35 and 4:35 marks.  I like the baseball celebration after his second goal.

Matt likes soccer. He likes sleeping in. He is also amused easily. That is pretty much it.

That first goal is much harder than it looks–an in-to-out run to beat the defender to the ball and then head it at a glancing angle past both the defender and goalkeeper at near post. Whew. Tough.

I watched this game live and Boyd really was great. He drew the foul that got the red-card sending off for the other team, too. The two other goals that were scored, Boyd was right behind the goalscorer and probably would’ve had a good chance at scoring too.

The more I see of Boyd, the more I think he was a big get for us. I’d like to see him paired with Jozy up top against Bosnia, but I really doubt that’ll happen.

This certainly was a good performance, both finishes were high quality (going for a power header on a bouncing ball is easy to mess up). I still think Boyd has a few seasons more to reach his full potential, more of a 2018 option.
