Fabian Johnson picks up an ankle injury
July 15, 2013 (1:54 PM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

So this is not great news.  Fabian Johnson is expected to miss some time with a partial tear of the lateral ligament in the left ankle.  He picked it up in a preseason friendly against FSV Frankfurt.

The always good Brian Sciaretta contacted Hoffenheim’s press officer to find out more information and it doesn’t look like it is a serious injury.

“[Fabian Johnson] was tackled during a preseason game at Frankfurt, FSV, and had to be substituted,” Hoffenheim press officer Holger Tromp told YA on Monday. “He has a partially torn ligament in his left ankle and will need individual rehab for the next days. The medics hope he can return to team practice by the end of the week.”

The left/right back positions for the USMNT seem to be hazardous to your health.
