Friday AM links

The big news of Thursday was the announcement of the Gold Cup roster.  Jurgen Klinsmann also did his usual post-roster release Q&A with US Soccer’s website.  The guys over at American Soccer Now also invited me to select my own roster, so I did that for them.

Steve Cherundolo declined to be on the USMNT roster this summer to get some rest and now it looks like he is having some surgery on his left knee, the same knee that he had surgery done on back in February.

Some guys in lower leagues are returning to old clubs.  Howie posted about Jon-Paul Pittman going back to Wycombe Wanderers yesterday (and about Mike Grella likely returning to Scunthorpe United earlier this week).  You can also add Euan Holden to the mix as Holden has signed another non-contract basis with Bury.  And Jonathan Spector officially re-signed with Birmingham City.

With Alejandro Bedoya’s contract ending soon, he is likely looking for a new home.  And FC Twente seem to be interested according to this report out of Sweden.

Here is a video of Tony Taylor at AC Omonia.

Brad Friedel did an interview this week for the guys over at Soccer America.

Bobby Wood must have been mad about not making the Gold Cup roster as he scored twice in a 5-1 win over FC Zürich in a preseason friendly.

Want a silly season rumor?  How about Dan Kennedy to Maccabi Tel Aviv?

Grant Wahl tells us about Nick Pugliese, an American playing professionally in Afghanistan.

And to end with today’s fashion column, here are some more new jerseys for next season.  Tim Howards’ new goalkeeper kit can be found here (along with Everton’s new home shirt).  No word if the smoke is optional or not.  If Carlos Bocanegra stays at Rangers, here are their home/away/third kits for next season.  And finally, Jermaine Jones and Schalke have a new international/third kit for next season.

Enjoy the weekend.
