Silly season continued: which US international is set for a move to MLS?

According to Kurt Larson of the Toronto Sun:

Finally, for those interested in what TFC will do with the top allocation spot …

“Stay tuned,” (Toronto FC general manager Kevin) Payne said. “There may be an announcement on that. The likelihood, though, is that we’ll trade it for some future considerations.”

There has been speculation that Carlos Bocanegra will be returning to MLS, with his preference being for a California team. Would the Mexican-American fit in at Chivas USA (it’s a circus, but so is Rangers)?

Toronto FC has the top slot in the allocation order with Portland and Seattle next (due to a hilariously one-sided trade of Shalrie Joseph). Does Chivas— or LA or San Jose— have the resources to trade up in the order?

  1. Jeffrey says:

San Jose really doesn’t have the money to take on Bocanegra and could really use some help in the mid field more than the D.

I can’t imagine anyone actually wanting to play for Chivas USA… and id second that the earthquakes don’t want him and couldn’t get him/the spot anyways. LA has an open DP slot, how fun would it be trading for back-to-back returning internationals? Too bad they don’t have a top scorer to cough up this time.
