Jurgen Klinsmann will announce his roster for the upcoming camp/friendlies/qualifiers on Thursday.  He is going to name about 27 players, which is slightly more than usual, due to seven players sitting on yellow cards and late arrivals into camp.

One player who is rumored to be missing from this roster is Landon Donovan.  If Landon does not get called in, you would have to think he would be called in with the guys for the Gold Cup.

Speaking of that Gold Cup roster, it looks like they will have their own friendly against Guatemala down in San Diego before the tournament begins on July 9.  But US Soccer has not officially announced anything yet.

We told you about the Gold Cup getting a new trophy last week.  Well, here it is and it sort of looks like the old trophy.

With all these different USMNT rosters, Brian Sciaretta takes a guess at both rosters.

Jozy Altidore was named to the De Telegraaf Eredivisie Team of the Season.  And here are two photos of Jozy holding the Dutch Cup after last week’s victory:  Photo 1 & Photo 2.

Carlos Bocanegra is looking forward to returning to Rangers next season, although Bocanegra’s agent tells Greg Seltzer that there is some MLS interest.

There was a Sky Sports story that we posted last week about Bursaspor trying to obtain Maurice Edu from Stoke City on a permanent basis and multiple people are telling Greg Seltzer the same.

If Edu does return to Stoke City next season, he along with Brek Shea and Geoff Cameron will look like they play for the Columbus Crew in away games in their new black-and-yellow kits for 2013-14.

Remember when Freddy Adu’s manager at Bahia was fired a week after he joined the club and there was some crazy stat about the club going through 20-25+ managerial changes over the previous 10 years?  Well, Bahia fired another manager.

As expected, Steve Cherundolo will be getting a new one-year extension at Hannover 96.

After being released by Carlisle United, Frank Simek is currently on trial with D.C. United even though he would still need to go through the allocation rankings since he has played for the USMNT before.  Yay weird MLS rules!

Even with the broken leg, Will Packwood has agreed to a one-year extension with Birmingham City.

The LA Times has a new story up about Bob Bradley.

Brian Sciaretta talked to Alejandro Bedoya recently about his good start to the season and his big summer ahead.

Mix Diskerud talked to Goal.com this week about his future with the USMNT and his failed move to Portland.

Tijuana defeated Palmeiras 2-1 last night meaning they will advance to the quarterfinals of Copa Libertadores.  Edgar Castillo and Joe Corona both got the start in the win and they will now take on Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro.

Alex Kurial of Yanks Abroad has a story up on how Americans Shane Recklet and Jacob Wilson are trying to help Vasas SC back to the top level of soccer in Hungary.

And go take a look at our cool new Sacha/Over There shirt.  They will go up for sale next week.

I hope that Mix is in the mix for one of those 27 spots in camp

  2. Kyle says:

    Bedoya as well

  3. Benton says:

Edu should do anything he can to play anywhere but Stoke next season. They showed little respect and made him ride the pine. He needs as many minutes as he can get.

And any chance there will be a guess the score contest again to win a Sacha/Over There shirt?

  4. Gregory says:

I don’t understand not bringing Landon Donovan into camp. If he is out of shape then don’t put him in the 18. I find it hard to believe Zusi or EJ are better then him on the wing. I think if JK brings LD into camp he knows he will win a starting spot.

Mix, Bedoya, Connor O’Brien, Agudelo, Donovan, Wooten, Steve Clark, Lichaj, Adu, Joe Corona, Josh Gatt, Joe Gyau, Parkhurst, Seb Hines, Shawn Parker, Thomas Delaney, and Zac MacMath–there are soooo many people who I want to see capped at least at the Gold Cup level. Could be a chance to blood a lot of young kids or competitively cap some dual-nationals.

  6. Ian says:

I saw the highlights of some of Zusi’s recent games with SKC and it seemed like he was playing (and playing well) in the middle. I know they’re just highlights, but MLS usually shows close to 10 minutes of highlights a game. Most of us have called for Kljestan or Adu or Feilhaber or Torres to play in the middle, but I don’t recall anyone wanting to see Zusi there. I don’t believe he’s an outside player and that way you could have him and Donovan on the field at the same time.

  7. Trent Hill says:

With the wealth of midfield options we have, I dont really want to see Zusi anywhere on the field.

Midfielders I’d rather see: Dempsey, Bradley, J. Jones, F. Jones, Bedoya, Mix, Adu, Corona, Gatt, Kljestan, Danny Williams, Edu, Beasley, and Holden.

  8. Trent Hill says:

2 goals and an assist in the Galaxy game tonight for Donovan. He wants to be called up.

  9. daniil says:

I don’t think adu is a viable option for the national team. He hasn’t had legitimate success at a high level in so long… we don’t need players like that in our national team, if for no other reason than to let him focus on club.

We don’t need zusi anywhere. He’s a swell player, but he’s out of place on the wing and there’s way too many better options in the middle.

Would love to see Edu get at least 1 A-team start, he’s in good form, I’ve always thought he’sway underrated. As a center-midfielder he has all the tools.

  10. Cam says:

I would like to see Kljestan get a start, he has never been able to show what he could do at the international level because he is limited to 10 minute sub appearances off the bench.

  11. Trent Hill says:

Cam, I agree. Klejstan is someone I’d like to see something from–maybe he’ll get lots of minutes in the Gold Cup?

  12. Gregory says:

Let’s not forget about Beasley on the left wing.

  13. Gregory says:

Is Edgar Castillo ever going to get some love?
