If you guys HAD to guess, what percentage would you give for him eventually plating for the US?

  2. Gregory says:

I’m not worried about Germany capping him for next year’s World Cup. I put him on the list of prospects that need to have a breakout season next year.

Too many of these European Americans to keep up with, I know he’s in the Germany Youth system. Has stated he is open to a US switch? If he’s starting in the Bundesliga next season I can see him leap frogging Terrance Boyd in the depth chart. USMNT doesn’t have a true striker starting in an elite league other then Altidore.

  3. Trent Hill says:

Shawn Parker, Michael Delaney, Aron Johannson, Alfredo Morales, Adam Henley, and John Anthony Brooks are just a few of the most exciting dual-national names.

Of course, we don’t have a great track record with this. We lost Subotic, Giuseppi Rossi, and Mosvisiyan to Slovenia, Italy, and Armenia–all would walk into our WCQ starting line-up.

  4. Matt says:

This is a total guess with not a lot of real knowledge on the situation, but I would guess 20% or so on Parker. Not that high. I think we have much better odds with Mr. Anthony Brooks.

(Subotic – serbia, careful mate, confusing southern slavic countries can be dangerous business :p)

Some of those guys- johannson, delaney- I see at about 0% chance of playing for the US.

Parker is in the ballpark. Seems to me he wants to wait out for germany, but I thought the same thing about Chandler so its really anybody’s game. There are a lot of good german players out there… getting germany caps is no easy thing. Id say a little over 20% just because he’ll have to play pretty derned well in the bundesliga to get called up to germany, but we’ll see how patient he is and needs to be

  6. Gregory says:

I know just cuz something makes sense doesn’t mean it will happen, but next year if the US has qualified for the WC, you would hope Shawn Parker would play for the US rather then be a spectator.

Honestly I loathe Giuseppe Rossi, but understand him choosing Italy. Subotic with Serbia is also understandable.

Aron Johannsson or any Germans choosing to sit out the World Cup rather then suit up the USA makes no sense.

After next spring I hope the USMNT has foreign-born players lined up to be apart of the World Cup. Something like this happened before with David Regis in 1998. (1998 World Cup great example to follow I know)

  7. Trevor says:

I wonder if Shawn Parker will get the call up against US. Germany team is going to be quite thin with Dortmund, Bayern and Real Madrid all having games near June 2nd.
