Charlie Davies got the start and went the full 90 minutes in this 0-0 draw.  Here are some highlights from the game (a scoring chance for each team).

Almost 4 years later and the USMNT still hasn’t recovered from Davies’ accident. He supplied an attacking threat on the same level as Landon, Dempsey, & Alitdore. USA needs another winger, CAM, or forward that plays on an elite level.

Shea needs to get healthy and playing minutes. I think Shea hasn’t proved anything and needs an EPL/Championship season under his belt. His best season he scored 11 MLS goals, Davies scored 11 goals for DC United after his career changing injury.

I wish Gatt would start over Zusi or EJ. Gatt will be 22 soon and needs to earn a transfer. When Davies was in his 2nd year in Scandinavia he scored 14 goals in 27 games. Gatt isn’t a true striker, but he needs a breakout season.

Pontius?? I watched this season, he might be the 6th best player on DC United; 3rd best offensively. (I’m rating him higher then Carlos Ruiz, which might change as 33year old Ruiz gets in shape.)

Tijuana’s Corona, Castillo, and Greg Garza?

Pushing Fabian or Timmy Chandler to midfield?

    Brazilian Freddy?

Terrance Boyd might be the closest thing. He needs to start producing on the International stage like Davies did. Boyd is on pace with Davies on the club level, but that means nothing until Boyd starts scoring and producing for America.

Davies emerged from no-where. Not many American Scandinavian based players step their game up like Davies did.

Daveis was very good yesterday. He was probably the best player on the field. He looked like pre-accident CD9.
