Still have the U-20s on the mind and Brian Sciaretta gives us his 21 tickets for Turkey.

Sciaretta also talked to Daniel Cuevas this week about qualifying for the U-20 World Cup.

Another U-20er, Juan Ocegueda, took to twitter to tell fans why he picked the US over Mexico.  Just scroll down his timeline to his tweets from March 6.

Carlos Bocanegra is struggling to see the field at Racing Santander and apparently has lost his starting spot.

And if you want to be semi-depressed, John Godfrey breaks down the struggles along the back line for the USMNT.

Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic will be out a month with an ankle injury, which probably means Michael Bradley will return to the starting lineup.  Bradley has come off the bench in two of his last three games.

I forget whether I posted this last week or not (and I am currently too lazy to look and see), but here is a NY Times story/interview with Brad Guzan.  Can’t hurt to post to it twice.

Tijuana continues their hot streak in Copa Libertadores with a 1-0 win over defending champions and 2012 FIFA Club World Cup champions Corinthians.  Joe Corona got the start while Greg Garza came off the bench.

We posted about Daniel Antunez playing with Chivas USA during training camp.  Well, he officially signed with the club this week.  Antunez last played for Inter Turku in Finland in 2012.  Also, we might pass around a hat to take up a collection so OT can sponsor at tarp at a Chivas USA game at the Home Depot Center.  Just joking (or am I?).

Sticking with the Chivas USA theme, Franco Panizo talked to Juan Agudelo about playing for Chivas and his training stints in Europe this offseason.

Here is a post-game interview with Conor O’Brien after FC Nordsjælland’s win from the weekend.

And this has nothing to do with Americans in Europe, but this might be the worst conditions ever for a corner kick.

Love the links…up at 4:40 because my 3 year old son is crying. Am I the only one? But when I use my phone to visit this site there is this paragraph about payday loans that appears as double text over 8 lines on the first page?

  2. Chris says:

Very concerning for the usa backline for the upcoming qualifiers, bocanegras siting on the bench, as is cameron, onyewu and ream. It looks a certainty that gonzalez will start despite his poor game vs honduras, but whos next to him, goodson? besler? maybe even someone like george john, john anthony brooks or seb hines?

  3. Todd T says:

Unless Cameron is completely without fitness he most likely will start with Gonzales. If he changes the CB’s I think he would put Edu in before an untested player. I applauded him putting Gonzales/Cameron in vs. Honduras…it was the right decision with an unfortunate result.

  4. Gregory says:

The Godfrey struggling defense article doesn’t mention Maruice Edu. It contains ever single possible defender from Gooch, Seb Hines, Jay Demerit, and even D.Williams at CB, but no mention of Edu. I don’t think Edu is the answer but to leave him off the list is puzzling.

That being said I really don’t like Edu at CB, but I cannot think of anyone who hands down deserves to start over Edu at CB. Every one has looked shaky at CB, even Cameron.

  5. Todd T says:

Send the link to the article would love to read it. I agree that Edu is not the answer but I am figuring what Klinsi might do for Costa Rica/Mexico but mostly Costa Rica.

It is clear that the pairing for the future is going to be Cameron/Gonzales…until somebody else forces there way through club play or performance in camp.

I am agree that everybody has looked shakey but for the next two games who is going to step in. I though Alfredo Morales was playing some CB.

The funny thing is I like Edu at centerback more than defensive-mid.

  6. Jaime says:

Todd I am having the same problem accessing this site when I use my phone.

  7. Gregory says:

Todd the link is above supplied by Matt.

  8. Todd T says:

Thanks….Missed it…it might be under the area that has double texted on my phone. Seriously does anybody get double text. It starts on the paragraph that says “Carlos …..all the way down to “post it twice”. I can not read anything in between those two points. I only see this when I use my phone to access the site.

  9. Matt says:

Just letting everyone know that I am aware of the ads showing up on cellphones. This site is not supposed to have ads, so something is secretly embedding them.

I keep turning off various plugins to the site every couple days to see if that is causing it, but I haven’t been able to figure it out yet and it is frustrating the hell out of me.

Sorry for the ads and hopefully it gets resolved in the near future.

  10. Trent Hill says:

Can we please call up Seb Hines already? How has he not already gotten a call?

  11. Todd T says:

Thanks Matt!!!! I thought it was just me!

  12. Chris says:

I think I would like to see Cameron with gonzo but if camerons not really playing maybe playing goodson or besler with him instead could work a bit better. Also it’s somewhat concerning that dempseys not coming back in reasonable time, if he’s not healthy we could be in big trouble and i could see corona playing there in a trial by fire vs crc and at mexico

  13. daniil says:

hines probably hasnt gotten the call because of his club situation. I’ts probably best for his development to stay at ‘boro, especially if he can help them into the premier league.
