There is not a lot to this Inside the Numbers.  Just wanted to update the goal-scoring leaderboard for the current 2012-13 season for players in the top-flight leagues in England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal and the Netherlands (looking at goals for their club teams in all league/cup/European competitions).  Jozy is now sitting in ninth place with 24 goals across all competitions.

   Jozy is American so he’ll be stuck in mid table football for his entire career.

   For good measure and objectivity… Henrik Mhitarayan has 20 goals across all for Shakthar Donetsk. Ukraine and Russia rated higher than netherlands in uefa coefficient. Due to winter breaks those leagues have played 6 fewer fixtures than netherlands. Mhitarayan’s league strikerate is greater than 1.

   While this generation of american players will not make it into truly big clubs, their hard work is paving the way for the next generations to make it. Here’s to a golden boot for altidore.
