The OT Report – Weekend Edition
   March 3, 2013 (1:35 PM) by Matt

herculezgomez

Lets start off this week’s The OT Report with a player not playing in Europe.  Herculez Gomez scored two goals and picked up an assist in the first 24 minutes of Santos Laguna’s 3-1 win on Friday (highlights here).  Jozy Altidore also had two goals and an assist earlier this week and followed that up with his 24th goal of the season across all competitions (highlights here).  With the goal, Jozy set a new American record for goals in a single season in a top-flight European league.

This weekend also saw the Danish Superliga start up and we had some Swedish teams begin their Swedish Cup.  In one of those Swedish Cup matches, Alejandro Bedoya found the back of the net in a 1-1 draw.  And Clarence Goodson and Charlie Davies both came off the bench for their teams as Davies’ Randers FC defeated Goodson’s Brøndby IF 2-0.

Other things of note from the weekend.  Tim Howard’s consecutive Premier League starts streak came to an end at 210 as Howard missed this weekend’s game with a back injury.  And Brek Shea made his home debut for Stoke City, coming off the bench and playing 22 minutes in a loss to West Ham.
