The US U-20 team advanced to the final of the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championship with a 2-0 win over Cuba earlier today. The goals were scored by Mario Rodriguez (9′) and Daniel Cuevas (11′).
Mexico just beat El Salvador in the other semifinal, meaning we will have the US vs. Mexico in the final on Sunday at 7 PM Eastern on Fox Soccer.
A couple quick factoids: Mexico has now scored 12 goals this tournament, but hasn’t conceded one. And the format has changed a couple times throughout the years (sometimes they only had group stages and no knockout stages for qualifying), but this will be the fourth time the US has made the CONCACAF U-20 Championship final (1980, 1982 and 2009). The US is 0-3 all-time in those games and has faced Mexico only once in a final (2-0 loss in 1980).

Hard to believe either challenge didn’t warrant a stiffer penalty…especially the second…clearly from behind… should have been a straight red.
I’m ready to over-hype Daniel Cuevas.
