Brek Shea scores in reserve squad match

That didn’t take long.

Brek Shea started in Stoke City’s reserve match against Burnley on Tuesday and scored with a header off a corner kick in the second half, but Burnley won 2-1.

Stoke City actually had a pretty strong lineup for a reserve match as Shea played alongside Michael Owen, Charlie Adam and Wilson Palacios.

According to the game recap, he started on the left wing, looked lively throughout the match and made “lots of neat touches and powerful runs”.

I still don’t think he is probably 100% ready to play with the first team in the Premier League just yet, but Tony Pulis is hoping that Shea will be available for Stoke City’s match against Fulham next weekend.

“We are looking to stage a couple of friendly games over the next week or so to give players like Marc and Brek a chance to step up their fitness.

“If they do that, then they will definitely come into the equation for the Fulham game; there is no doubt about that.”

He added: “Brek has looked really lively in training since coming back here, and Marc was close to being part of the squad at the weekend. It would be a real boost to have them available to us.”

The Fulham game is in two weekends not this weekend. Pretty sure it’s FA cup action this up coming weekend.

  2. Matt says:

You would be correct, 2tone. I made the fix.

  3. Jason says:

Shea fits in very well with the orcs, doesn’t really know how to play, thus tries to injure everything in his path because of this disability, often gets carded and has a bad attitude. Not that he has to worry though because Tony Pulis will make excuses for him and complain (as usual) that people are out to get Stoke and Shea.

  4. daniil says:

I love how shea doesn’t get cards or injure people… but the fact that he had an idiot for a manager in MLS makes him out to have a bad attitude.

  5. 2tone says:

Don’t feed the troll up above. I am sure the guy just has some kind of personal vendetta against Brek.

  6. Cody says:

    Great news. Let’s go brek!

  7. Andy says:

Hopefully Shea will add a little silk to their leg-breaking, orcish anti-football. In all seriousness though, I can really see him succeeding in the Premier League.

Hate Stoke. Like Shea. Love Geoff Cameron.

  8. Cam says:

Stoke reputation precedes them. They’re playing better football now than they ever have in the past.

  9. Cam says:

    Stoke’s*

  10. Trent Hill says:

I imagine he’s talking about Marc Wilson, fullback.

Stoke may not play Barca-style, but it’s funny to see Americans stabbing at them for their rough, physical, defend-at-all-costs style. We used to play like that, boys and girls.

  11. Jerry says:

They win and for the most part they are in every game they play, what is their not to like?

We are upset that they are physical, in a game we constantly complain is full of dilatants and divers, you would think Stoke would have more support.

They should just change the club slogan to: “You will be lucky enough to escape with your life.”

  12. daniil says:

lol I used to play for a club where the academy director told us from day 1 all he wanted was that the other team go home unhappy and hurting. We came out in a 5-4-1 and boy not much got past us. 2 months later we had signed on as a Sunderland feeder lol go figure

  13. Gregory says:

I pray Stoke teaches Shea how to properly thug up a pitch. It’s unlikely the USMNT is going to beat a top tier team with their flair next World Cup. JK even said they have to be nastier on the pitch.

The Burnley player in the picture looks 15 years old.
