It is now official. Here is the roster. Rob Stone just said on TV that Jermaine Jones and Maurice Edu are “maybes” for being called in still. And it sounds like Landon Donovan is out for the first qualifier for February.
GOALKEEPERS (3): Tally Hall (Houston Dynamo), Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire)
DEFENDERS (9): Steven Beitashour (San Jose Earthquakes), Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), A.J. DeLaGarza (LA Galaxy), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Connor Lade (New York Red Bulls), Alfredo Morales (Hertha Berlin), Justin Morrow (San Jose Earthquakes), Jeff Parke (Philadelphia Union)
MIDFIELDERS (8): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (out of contract), Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Mix Diskerud (Rosenborg), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders), Benny Feilhaber (Sporting Kansas City), Joshua Gatt (Molde), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)
FORWARDS (5): Juan Agudelo (Chivas USA), Will Bruin (Houston Dynamo), Edson Buddle (Colorado Rapids), Eddie Johnson (Seattle Sounders), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)
Thoughts on the roster?

Word is that Pontius is out due to a groin injury precaution.
Overall – no problem. It will be interesting to see how many actually grow past this into the team for 1st qualifier. I’m guessing 5 maybe 6
its hard to really criticize a January camp roster but i would have really liked to see rimando, george john, demerit and definitely pontius. Not quite sure where the surprise is that people were talking about? But that being said heres my starting 11
——————-Howard————————-
-DeLaGarza—Gonzalez—Besler——-Lade———
——————-Beckerman———————-
———–Diskerud——–Zusi——————-
——————-Bedoya————————-
——–Johnson———-Wondolowski————–
Would love to see both gatt and agudelo get reasonable time off the bench.
Fianlly not quite sure what feilhaber has done in the past year to earn a spot on the roster, would have loved to see pontius or o’brien there.
Klinsmann, on Donovan’s plans: “We are as curious as anybody else about what his future will be.”
In my opinion, they should be players like…
- Conor O’Brien
- Chris Pontius
- Corey Ashe
- C.J. Sapong
In my opinion, that should not be…
- Benny Feilhaber
- Kyle Beckerman
Interesting youngest players are Alfredo Morales, Mix, Gatt, and Juan Agudelo.
Brad Davis’s call-up makes up for Freddy Adu’s exclusion.
Brad Davis played at a higher level then Zusi in the MLS playoffs. Davis could start at LM for USA’s A squad.
JK on Omar Gonzalez “He needs to show us he’s ready for a big step into international football, He needs to show us that he wants to break in. He needs to show us that he’s ready to guide a back line, that he’s ready to communicate a lot and take over the responsibility.”
WOW #Challenge !!!!
IN 4-3-3:

Interesting that everyone here puts A J DeLaGarza in their team choice – would that be the case if Gonzalez was not in the team ???
Don’t get me wrong, I like DeLaGarza, but I am not sure he is an (quality) International level back!
Tweet from Chris Pontius ” Pulled myself out of this camp cause groin isn’t 100%. Need to be ready for MLS season”

JK isn’t gonna give up AJ to those pesky Guamanians without a fight!
As a San Jose native, really hoping to see Beita out there!
I’m betting the Galaxy centerback pairing plays. Hoping to see Gatt, Mix, Lade, Morales, Bedoya, Zusi, and Agudelo see field-time. Johnson should play all 90.
