FA CUP SPECIAL EDITION (3rd Round)
The FA Cup has a special place for me, and the 3rd round is when it really gets to be fun. The survivors from the lower and amateur leagues now get the opportunity to face off against the top flight teams. The FA Cup started in 1871 and it is still one of the most popular Soccer tournaments in the world.
The picture above was taken in 1967, the gentleman in the stripes (Millwall) was my uncle, Len Julians. (scoring one of his many goals)
Millwall plays today, but we will not be following them, but we do have 11 games in the cup and a few in other leagues to follow. Stoke and Geoff Cameron will be visiting London and Crystal Palace, Dempsey and Friedel will be welcoming Coventry to White Hart Lane and Aston Villa will host Ipswich at Villa Park. These are just 3 of the games that we are following that hold promise of excitement and goals. The late game, West Ham with Sebastian Lletget hosting Manchester United will certainly be tense, and West Ham will hope that they will be playing at Wembley in the Cup Final (they are possible moving to Wembley as their home ground)
We will have also have matches from Spain as both Malaga with Oguchi Onyewu and Racing Santander with Carlos Bocanegra will square of against league foes Deportivo La Coruna and Ponferradina respectively.
On Sunday, Roma and Michael Bradley travel to Napoli, as Serie A #5 take on #6. Then in the evening Mexico Liga MX kicks-off the Clausura in earnest, and the Ascenso MX has a full menu of games.
So, as usual your chat, comments, questions and interaction is encouraged.

Racing Santander takes the lead (82)
Racing Santander 2 – 1 Ponferradina (82)
Full Time:
Racing Santander 2 – 1 Ponferradina
Carlos Bocanegra and Santander get a valuable win and 3 points to help salvage the season
West Ham still holding on to lead – but, well, you know, Man. U always seem to find a way – just once it would be good to see the other team hold on till the end
Malaga just announced their team for this PM game and Oguchi Onyewu is not in the starting 11 (waiting on subs)
Oguchi Onyewu not in 18 today for Malaga
Nooooo!!! Manchester United score – its just so predictable!!!!! (90)
West Ham 2 – 2 Manchester United (90)
Well that’s that at Upton Park. Manchester come back at 90+1 to tie things up – they paid a boatload of money for RvP and they’re getting their money’s worth…So they will do it all again shortly. Good to see Joe Cole getting involved for the Hammers.
Final Score: West Ham 2 – 2 Manchester United
Well that’s it for me today…lot of good stuff.
Highlight: Clint Dempsey brace for Tottenham over Coventry
Lowlight: Will Packwood’s injury. Lets hope the prognosis is good
Remember all the highlights and news from today is here at Socceroverthere.com, check back often
Thank You for the chat and your participation today, and I look forward to being back on The Thread soon.
Cheers
