Welcome to today’s Commentary Thread, following all matches around the world that involve US players. This weekend begins the 2 weeks of madness in the UK. Many UK teams, across all leagues, will play 3 or even 4 games in quick succession, and their hopes will rise and fall following the holiday schedules. All this while most of the other European Leagues take a break. Expect action over the next few weeks from Italy, Belgium and Holland (Bradley,Kljestan and Altidore) as they plough (literally) through their schedules.
This weekend we have a number of promising games to watch, Tottenham(Clint Dempsey) currently in 4th in the EPL will have a hard game as they host Stoke City(Geoff Cameron) and West Ham(Sebastion Lletget) will welcome Tim Howard and Everton on Saturday, also Saturday Roma (Michael Bradley) takes on AC Milan in Italy while Malaga and Oguchi Onyewu will welcome Real Madrid into their house. On Sunday , Aston Villa (Brad Guzan & Eric Lichaj – above) will go to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the EPL, and Sasha Kljestan and 1st place Anderlecht will battle 6th place Genk, in an effort to keep their win streak alive. So join with us as we follow these games, chat give opinions and generally have fun through the weekend games.

Villa’s Weimann hits the woodwork, ball flicks off Cech, off the bar and over
25th Minute:
Genk 0 – 0 Anderlecht
by the scoreline you would not think that Guzan is doing well today, but it could easily be 6 or more, if not for Brad.
Frank Lampard’s goal was his first in the Premier League from outside the penalty area since April 2011, 603 days ago. Wow surprised!!
Just to update:
Chelsea 4 – 0 Aston Villa (72)

Oh Dear, Chelsea score again this time Ramires (76)

Hazard slams an absolute screamer into the top corner – another great finish and it’s SEVEN for Chelsea. A nightmare for Villa.

Anderlecht expand their lead (44)
Genk 0 – 2 Anderlecht (45+1)

Half Time in Belgium where Sasha and Anderlecht leads Genk by 2 goals to zero
I feel really bad for Brad Guzan, He had a really strong game (I know that sounds weird under the circumstance)but believe it or not this game could easily had more goals but for Brad.
Eric Lichaj was OK, before he was subbed out (55) in a tactical move by Paul Lambert, on a day like today, its unlikely that anyone will be heralded or punished, its just an anomaly. Not much time for Villa to regroup and move on. Next up, Wednesday Home to Tottenham, while Chelsea will travel to Norwich
2nd half underway in Belgium
Genk 0 – 2 Anderlecht (49)
In Belgium
Genk have got one back (61)
Genk 1 – 2 Anderlecht (63)
15 minutes to go in Belgium, Anderlecht are holding on to their 2 – 1 lead..come on Sasha!!
All tied up in Belgium
Genk score (76)
Genk 2 – 2 Anderlecht (78)
Score!!!! Anderlecht (86)
Genk 2 – 3 Anderlecht (86)
Goal ! Anderlecht (90)
Genk 2 – 4 Anderlecht (90+4)
Full Time in Belgium Pro League
Genk 2 – 4 Anderlecht
Genk came back from a 2 goal, half time deficit to tie things up with 15 minutes on the clock, but Anderlecht score 2 unanswered goals to finish of the year with a solid win, 3 points and a win streak at 10.
so that’s it for this weekend….we ended with 2 games that provided 14 goals.
I would like to thank everyone for joining in with chat and comments…..see you later this week.
To everyone out there – my personal wish – for a happy and safe holiday
cheers
