The US U-20s look to end a two-tournament streak of US youth teams failing to qualify for international tournaments (2011 U-20s, 2012 U-23s). They’ll have to get past Costa Rica and Haiti in the group stage.
Group A
- United States
- Costa Rica
- Haiti
Group B
Group C
- Jamaica
- Panama
- Puerto Rico
Group D
- Mexico
- El Salvador
- Curaçao
Notably, the only match that really matters (the quarterfinal) would be against Canada, Nicaragua, or Cuba (likely Cuba, if I was betting), which is considerably more favorable than playing host Guatemala as the last U-20 squad had to. (Of course, the U-23s only had to get past El Salvador or Canada at home in order to make the semifinal round which they failed to do. So nothing’s a guarantee with youth teams.)
