Friday morning links
November 16, 2012 (12:29 AM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

Some reading and links for your Friday morning pleasure.

Juan Agudelo is headed to Celtic for a training stint starting on Friday.  Jurgen Klinsmann has encouraged these training stints in Europe for MLS players in the past.  And Agudelo trained with Liverpool and Stuttgart last winter after the MLS season.

According to AZ Alkmaar technical director Earnie Stewart, Jozy Altidore is being scouted by some bigger clubs.  There was even a offer this past summer by an unnamed eastern European club.

Randy Kim recently spoke to Gregg Berhalter about his first season as manager at Hammarby in Sweden’s second division.

Clint Dempsey explains why he likes the number two.

Guam has already gone after A. J. DeLaGarza and now they are going after Shawn Nicklaw.

I haven’t heard this name in a while, but it looks like Alex Molano is going on trial in Austria (last sentence of the story).

And finally, Robbie Findley’s loan with Gillingham has ended as he is back with Nottingham Forest, playing with their U-21s this week.

    Since the original interview with Ernie Stewart it is being reported that the suitors where;
Russian Club Rubin Kazan and Portuguese Club and Oguchi Onyewu home(remember he is only on loan to Malaga), Sporting CP. Italian Serie A club Fiorentina also reportedly expressed serious interest. Reportedly bids where between $6 and $8 million.

Not sure that I like the idea of Jozy leaving AZ, at this point in his career, he seems to have finally settled, and is growing week by week.

What do you think. Should Jozy move in the summer? or stay where he is and concentrate on AZ & WCQ in 2013?

  2. Jeffrey says:

Jozy should stay for at least the rest of the season and maybe another. BUT fingers and toes are crossed to see Juan Agudelo move to the Hoops! It would be great to see him in the green and white, he would have a tough fight on his hands for playing time but playing for Celtic is a nice step up from that other L.A. team.

  3. Trent Hill says:

Jeffrey–agreed. I want to see an American at Celtic again.

  4. Kyle says:

and I want to see Celtic in the EPL..we can’t all get our wish

  5. Badwolfdc says:

Shawn Nicklaw has officially declared for Guam. Nicklaw also will be joined in Hong Kong, Pre-Asian Tournament, by his brother, Travis Nicklaw, who is currently in his freshman year at San Diego State University. Travis Nicklaw and the SDSU Aztecs recently wrapped up their NCAA Division I men’s soccer season on Nov. 6, edged 4-3 by UCLA.

  6. Trent Hill says:

Is Guam like Puerto Rico where you can declare for them and then later play for the US?
