US to play Germany in a friendly in May?
November 14, 2012 (9:58 AM) by Matt Benson     Email This Post Email This Post

According to this report, the US will play Germany in a friendly on May 29.  And according to Ives, the match will be played at RFK Stadium if the German Federation can get full approval from the German Bundesliga for the friendly.

With so many German-Americans, I was going to with a Mighty Ducks 3 reference (JV vs. Varsity), but Howie has an even better one:

Since Germany wears white at home, this means the US will be wearing their blue jerseys that were inspired by the Nazi uniforms from Victory. Awkward.

Thoughts on the game before the US has three qualifiers in June?

Chris, your logic is getting in the way of a stupid joke……..

  5. Howie says:

I was told it would be in Germany. As usual, my friends are idiots.

Also, Matt, you know that I don’t acknowledge. D3’s existence.

  6. Freegle says:

Don’t acknowledge D3’s existance? Shame on you! That’s the best one! “When we beat you, the Warriors die and the Ducks fly.”

  7. chris says:

sorry, sorry! i was just confused thats all

  8. William says:

furthermore i dont like this friendly at all, well i like playing germany, just not right before three huge qualifiers. What if we just get trounced by germany, then we go into the qualifiers with no confidence at all. It seems like this is very similar to playing spain right before the gold cup, and we struggled in that tournament.

Not a big fan of when this Friendly takes place. June is a crucial month for the USMNT to get maximum points for qualifying. I know they have two home games and an away game to Jamaica, but for me Klinsmann better rest his starters for this Germany game.

Steve Goff at the Washington Post Has 2 German NT games – May 29th would be a “Latin American” country – no US Venue announced.
The June 2nd date would be the USMNT game – Currently the US Soccer Federation are looking at either FedEx Field (Washington Redskins home field) or RFK Stadium (DC United Home field). Although both locations are in the DC region NO DECISION has been reached.
(Before you scream about the venue, the USSF annual meeting is late May early June in DC this year – hence the venues)

  13. David says:

The game is considered to be a final tune up, before the June 7th game at Jamaica.

Panama will visit USMNT 4 days later (11th)
Then Honduras will visit USMNT on the June 18th
