Freddy Adu (or Fred Adu as we like to call the mature adult here) was a guest on the BBC’s World Service World Football this week (the interview starts at 19:40, an accompanying column is here). He discusses the early days of his career (many of his teammates resented him for being 14 and the highest-paid player) and how he often mishandled the off-the-field distractions.
He also suggests that he may try Europe again. With some reports suggesting that Philadephia is no longer interested in him as part of their future, that may happen sooner rather than later.

Quite the disappointment he’s been.
I think Freddy Adu should go play in Ecuador
Good luck Freddy! Always a fan from days at DC to wherever ur career takes u.
He was never going to live up to such massive hype. However, we’ve seen glimpses. He was impressive, early on, at DC United. At the Gold Cup for the USA he was really a game-changer.
