Some late night linking

So Landon Donovan scored a big goal for the Galaxy tonight.  He recently talked to Julie Foudy about the uncertainty that is his future with the USMNT and soccer in general.  And someone started a funny Sad Landon twitter account.

Jurgen Klinsmann had a pre-Russia friendly teleconference today in which he talked about a variety of topics including Donovan and Jozy Altidore.  You can check out the questions/quotes right here.

Donovan’s Galaxy teammate Omar Gonzalez talked to Ives Galarecp this week about returning from injury and working towards a spot with the USMNT.

A report out of Mexico has Jose Torres headed to Tigres UANL come December.

Greg Seltzer talked to Conor O’Brien earlier this week about his ambitions beyond playing in Denmark.

Brian Sciaretta got some quotes from Anthony Brooks about his season so far at Hertha Berlin.

Here is a video interview with Sacha Kljestan.

And I first posted about Maki Tall last week, but it looks like he has been called into a camp with France’s U-18 team.

West Coasters get the midnight hookups, I love it

  2. Kyle says:

Maki said hes American, no one get too ahead of themselves.

  3. Trent Hill says:

He’s expressed dissatisfaction with the French set-up and daddy wants him to play for the US. I suspect we’ll see more of him in the future. Besides, France’s squad is tough to crack.

Also–just my personal observation, but Landon Donovan seemed to have FUN in the game tonight. He scored, he smiled, he was passionate, and afterwards he gave an interview in which it seemed like he wasn’t completely down on himself. I don’t want to see Donovan go before his time is up, so this is welcome news. On the other hand, if he does decide to quit, I hope everyone will acknowledge the huge debt US Soccer owes him and let him go in peace.

  4. Trent Hill says:

Is that 11 goals in 12 games for Jozy? Holy crap.

  5. 2tone says:

I have a feeling Brooks will be called up to the full national team against Russia.

On Maki Tall. Getting called up to youth national teams really doesn’t matter much considering dual natinals can make FIFA one time switches when they are not youth players. So choosing either the U.S. or France at the youth level means nothing.

  6. Andrew says:

I was thinking the same thing, Trent. I only saw the second half of the game but Donovan sure did look like he was enjoying himself.

  7. Trent Hill says:

Andrew–glad it wasn’t just me being optimistic.
