Jozy Altidore & Omar Gonzalez replace Jermaine Jones & Chad Marshall
August 5, 2010 (4:43 PM) by Matt Benson

Jermaine Jones is such a tease.

CHICAGO (Aug. 5, 2010) — Villarreal striker Jozy Altidore has been added to the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the match against five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil on Aug. 10 at the New Meadowlands Stadium, replacing Jermaine Jones.

Altidore appeared in all four matches in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. A former New York Red Bull and a native of Livingston, N.J., he has nine goals in 29 career games for the full team.

Jones initially accepted the invite, but after further discussions will remain with FC Schalke to prepare for his first competitive matches in more than a year after recovering from a shin injury.

Los Angeles Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez will be part of the U.S. squad in place of Columbus Crew center back Chad Marshall, who has withdrawn from the roster. Gonzalez, the 2009 MLS Rookie of the Year, will have the chance to earn his first international cap after having participated in national team training camp in January.

Who are you the most excited to see play against Brazil?
August 4, 2010 (2:20 PM) by Matt Benson

With the US roster finally announced for next week’s friendly against Brazil, there are four players that were not on the World Cup roster.  Of those four guys, which one are you the most excited to see play against Brazil?

I have a feeling (Tonight’s going to be a good night? Sorry for the horrible/corny joke.), that Jermaine Jones is going to win this, but I am the most pumped to see Alejandro Bedoya play.  He has intrigued me since he came onto the USMNT scene in the last year.  I also want to see a newly confident Sacha Kljestan play.
