Some last few things before the weekend
April 8, 2011 (6:35 PM) by Matt Benson

Some nice goals earlier today by Jozy Altidore (I wonder if he is hearing Agudelo’s and Bunbury’s foot steps?) and Alejandro Bedoya.  Both of those highlights can be found in posts below.

Jon Levy of The Yanks Are Coming has an interview up with Clarence Goodson.  They talk about his broken toe and the changing of the guard in the USMNT back line among other things.

Arch Bell is reporting that midfielder Daniel Stevens has signed with Finnish side Kemi Kings in the Ykkonen (Finnish second division).  The 25-year-old midfielder played with FC Buffalo in the National Premier Soccer League last season.

Molde FK’s website has a video interview up with Josh Gatt.  Apparently Gatt is a Charles Woodson fan.  Probably comes from Woodson’s days in Ann Arbor at Michigan since Gatt is a Michigan-native.

While there have been three Americans at Portuguese club Estoril (Tony Taylor, Greg Garza and Bryan Arguez) thanks to Traffic Sports, it looks like Bryan Arguez has returned to the US and will be playing with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (formerly known as Miami FC) in the NASL this season.

And finally, Steve Cherundolo thinks MLS youngsters should be allowed to leave the MLS to play in Europe.

Tony Taylor scores in a Portuguese League Cup match and other stuff
August 9, 2010 (3:10 PM) by Matt Benson

Lost in the shuffle this weekend was that Tony Taylor and Bryan Arguez both started for Estoril on Sunday in a Portuguese League Cup match.

Estoril’s first match in this year’s Taça da Liga (also known as Carlsberg Cup) was against Varzim and ended in a 1-1 draw after Taylor scored the game-tying goal in the 81st minute.

Estoril’s next first round group stage match is next Sunday against Santa Clara.

Staying in Portugal, we posted in one of the link drops last week that Kamani Hill was released by his former club Vitória Guimarães, but the guys at Yanks Abroad were able to talk to him recently about his future.

And finally, Alex Molano looks back at this year’s Milk Cup.  He also talks about trying to earn a spot with Dinamo Zagreb’s first team next spring after hopefully impressing with the U-19 squad this fall.

Bryan Arguez returns to Miami FC
April 28, 2010 (4:02 PM) by Matt Benson

US U-20 midfielder Bryan Arguez will be returning to the US after going out on loan to Portugal to second division club Estoril in January.

Bryan Arguez has been a member of the USMNT youth system since 2005 and dressed for a few games in Portugal, but never played in a game with Miami FC’s sister club Estoril.

“Bryan has grown up playing right here in Miami, in our back yard. Our head coach Victor Pastora coached him in his youth club days so he was on our radar screen even before he considered turning pro,” Miami FC general manager Luiz Muzzi said. “Now he’s back home and ready to prove that he has a long and successful career in front of him and we are very happy to have him.”
