Small site update
November 20, 2015 (10:02 AM) by Matt Benson

Sorry for the lack of updates recently but stuff has come up this week that has required some extra attention which has required me to pull back from the site.  Hopefully the site will return to its normal self in the near future.

Good talk.

We are officially five years old
January 31, 2015 (11:44 AM) by Matt Benson

Just a quick thank you to everyone who reads this site along with anyone who has helped out with this site in some capacity over the years (you can follow a bunch of them on Twitter, look at the list of guys on the left hand side).

I started this site for fun in 2010 and it has grown with each year.  So thank you and on to another fun year.

OT Sacha Mustache T-Shirt Fire Sale Clearance Extravaganza
September 25, 2014 (8:13 AM) by Matt Benson

I am cleaning up around the OT mansion and decided to slash the prices down on those lovely OT/Sacha Mustache t-shirts to get rid of the last few shirts that exist.  So now for the low low price of $5, you can get this wonderful shirt.  You are basically getting the shirt for free and paying for the shipping costs.  Shoot me an e-mail at socceroverthere AT gmail DOT com if you are interested in picking up one of the last shirts.  Here are the sizes that I have left:

Small – 6
Large – 1
Extra Large – 3

And while I am out of mediums, I do one have medium left of our old school original shirt from a couple years ago, so that shirt is available as well for $5.

Two random things
July 14, 2014 (11:30 AM) by Matt Benson

1) Remember when we had the MLS Brazil Bracket Challenge?  Well, our league had 75 entries with virenb claiming first place and dmlacey finishing second.  If you are one of those guys (or gals), please use the contact page to shoot me an e-mail to see what I have laying around the apartment as prizes (likely shirts).

2) I am reaching out for your help on this one.  Before each game in the stadiums down in Brazil, they would play a five minute-ish video showing highlights of the past World Cups while going year-by-year with some Hoosiers/Rudy type music being played.  It was great and I always found myself stopping whatever I was doing to watch it.  I need help finding it.  I can’t find it on Youtube and I doubt FIFA will ever put it online, but maybe someone can find it somewhere online.  That way I can watch it again, while also showing you guys as I think most people will really like it.  So go find it and e-mail me the link so I can post it on the site.

Good talk.

Back in the US
June 28, 2014 (8:51 AM) by Matt Benson

Hello all, remember me?

I am finally back in the US (currently typing this in a hotel room in Houston) with functioning internet.  One more flight tonight and I will finally be back in Los Angeles and the site will get back to its regularly schedule programming later this week.  Thanks once again to RJ for holding things down while I was gone.

It was a fun trip.  I got to see the US play in a World Cup game in person.  I got to see John Brooks score that winner.  I got to see Luis Suarez bite someone.  I got to spend too much time trying to sleep on the floor of the Manaus airport.  I got to see the movie The Big Year three times more than anyone really needs to.  I met some great new friends on this trip.

I will post some photos and tell some more details of the trip later this week.

Checking in from Natal
June 15, 2014 (1:14 PM) by Matt Benson

Hello all OT friends.  Sorry for the lack of updates on my end, but the internet at the hotel is painfully slow.  That said, the rain has finally stopped and multiple beers have been consumed.  Thanks to RJ for holding down the fort with his World Cup predictions.  Hopefully I can post more later this week if the internet gets better and I get some down time (from drinking more beers).

OT’s Brazil Bracket Challenge
May 23, 2014 (9:04 AM) by Matt Benson

I started a World Cup bracket challenge for this site via MLS’s site.  So go join, fill out a bracket and search the leagues for “”.  I haven’t decided yet (depends on how many people enter), but I will give away some leftover Sacha mustache shirts to the Top x players and maybe even a mystery prize if I pick up something from Brazil for first place.

Good luck!

We are officially a World Cup cycle old
January 31, 2014 (6:45 AM) by Matt Benson

Today is the site’s fourth birthday believe it or not.

Thank you to Howie, David, Jon, Will, Kim, Maxi, Andrew and anyone else who I might me forgetting who has helped out at some point over the last four years.  This site was started for fun in the build up for the 2010 World Cup and has grown a bunch over the last four years.

But thanks to you guys for coming back to the site.  I do this for fun.  There are no ads, I am not trying to make any money.  And with you guys coming back each day, it makes it feel like the work we (myself and the people mentioned above) do is worth it.

On to another fun year and World Cup!

Over There Shirt Contest: Pick the US-South Korea score
January 31, 2014 (1:00 AM) by Matt Benson

We haven’t done one of these contests in a while, but now would be a good time to do one with our Sacha Kljestan mustache shirts as the prize.

It is pretty simple.  Pick the correct score for Saturday’s game against South Korea.  Whoever gets the correct score will have a chance at a Over There/Sacha mustache shirt.  If more than one person guesses the correct score, I will have a random drawing for the shirt (although I might give away more than one depending on how many winners guess correctly).

You have until before kickoff to post your score, so just leave your prediction in the comments.  I will e-mail the winner after the game.  Also, if you leave a comment and it doesn’t show up right away, that means your e-mail address hasn’t been approved by the site before and it will show up once I get around to approving it.  No need to panic.

Good luck.

Happy Holidays
December 24, 2013 (12:00 AM) by Matt Benson

Happy Holidays to everyone reading this.

The site might be a little slow this week as I am spending some time with family (and recharging the batteries with a week off from work), while Howie has some stuff going on.  But there will still likely be a post or two in case something big goes down (like Dempsey to Fulham finally goes through) or some highlights if anyone scores on Boxing Day.
