A couple things for Tuesday
January 21, 2014 (12:13 AM) by Matt Benson

Let’s start in Brazil.

The US scrimmaged Sao Paulo again yesterday and won the rematch 2-1.  No clue on who scored but here are some more photos.  And here is a diary from the weekend.

FC Utrecht officially announced the loan deal for Juan Agudelo on Monday.

Still nothing really new on the Maurice Edu front, but it sounds like they (MLS and Edu) are still apart on a price.

This is from last week, but here is a video interview by Oguchi Onyewu after signing with Sheffield Wednesday.  Grant Wahl also got some words from Gooch.  And in case you missed it, he has a “hockey” assist in his Wednesday debut over the weekend.

Brek Shea continues to play for Barnsley on his loan and he had a nice back heel pass over the weekend.

Andrew Wooten scored two goals for FSV Frankfurt in a friendly over the weekend.  He has done well in these winter camp friendlies since going out on his loan.

Steven Goff told us about Sebastien Ibeagha trialing in Denmark last week.  Now Brian Sciaretta has found out some more details about his trial with Aalborg BK.

Corey Hertzog’s trial with Falkensberg in Sweden was cut short due to a hamstring injury.

And finally, former USMNTer Thomas Dooley is in the running for the manager job with the Philippines National Team.

A bit of this and that for Tuesday
January 14, 2014 (12:05 AM) by Matt Benson

Some link goodies for your little noggins.

Michael Bradley was officially introduced by Toronto FC on Monday.  Bradley and new teammate Jermain Defoe even took in a Raptors-Bucks game last night (Mikey with the rare smile!).  Bradley also did the interview rounds with Grant Wahl and Roger Bennett.  Sounds like he could join up with the USMNT once they return to LA after their 12 days in Brazil.

After some delays and what not, the USMNT finally made it down to Brazil.  Apparently Brad Evans has “taken over” US Soccer’s Instagram account for a while.

The always good Steven Goff dropped a bunch of nuggets for us.  The US is likely to play three friendlies on US soil between May 26 and June 7.  The venue and opponents are to be determined.  There was a rumor once upon a time about a US-England friendly down in England, but that looks like a no go now.  After about 10 different people told me that (I apparently missed that story last week), some told me (including Jon Arnold and Josh Deaver and they are good peeps) that the latest rumor is a friendly against Serbia.  We shall see.

Goff was also your source for all things Sebastian-related on Monday.  Sebastian Lletget might go on loan this spring.  He hasn’t been getting any playing time at West Ham this season.  And Duke defender Sebastien Ibeagha is expected to go on trial in Denmark.  Ives also mentioned that Ibeagha turned down a homegrown with the Houston Dynamo to head to Europe over the weekend.

Like the rumor from Sunday night, Michael Parkhurst is returning to MLS and his rights were traded to the Columbus Crew.

Since all the cool kids are returning to MLS (and there will soon be no one left for us to cover on this site), Maurice Edu is apparently in negotiations with MLS for his return to the league.  Also, Taylor Twellman is becoming the man when it comes to breaking these USMNT-related transfer rumors/stories.

Nothing really new to report on Juan Agudelo.  There is speculation that Stoke City might sign him, but send him out on loan until the work permit thing gets figured out.  I guess one of the rumored teams, Anderlecht, shot down that rumor over the weekend.  Yay silly season!

Julian Green continues to score goals for Bayern Munich’s first team during their winter friendlies.  He bagged another in a a 8-0 victory over Kuwait SC (highlights).

DC United’s Michael Seaton is headed to Italy to train with Inter Milan.  Another one of these MLS-to-Europe offseason training stints.

According to this Swedish report, Seattle Sounders’ Corey Hertzog is on trial with Falkenbergs FF.

Christopher McCollum tells us the story of Sean Reynolds.  Reynolds went from working at Home Depot this past year to now playing with Icelandic Premier League team FH, who will be playing in Europa League in 2014-15.

And finally, be on the lookout for a small Inside the Numbers thing on Matt Besler later today.
